  1. How wonderful to wander through these lovely towns. I wonder if I ever read Cross Creek; it sounds so familiar. I love Rawlings’ home and her gravestone too. The yard and gardens are so lush. I would love to stop by the Orange Shop for the grapefruit juice! 🙂

    1. Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings’ writing about Florida is beautiful. Cross Creek (both the book and the place) offer a peek into Old Florida, which most people don’t ever experience. I encourage you add to them to your reading and travel list!

  2. Those old buildings don’t rot quickly, due to being constructed of either heart pine or old-growth cypress. Grew up in Pinellas County from 63-78, family still lives there – loving your blog!

    1. I love Pinellas County! My father (traveling from first California, then Tennessee) used to sail regattas there from the 60’s through the 90’s, and every time I visit the peninsula, I feel quite connected to him. Thanks so much for reading, John!
