  1. Really enjoyed vicariously joining you and Robert to the top of Lassen Peak, Marsi. Wonderful narrative, well-written, and excellent photos. Also enjoyed the video a lot. Your descriptions, like noting the “perfectly framed” location of Mount Shasta for example, were a pleasure. It’s a great accomplishment to hike all the way to the top. Great post.

    1. Wow, Jet you are too kind! Thank you! I am so happy you enjoyed this post. Your compliments really mean a lot to me :-). I really loved writing this post. Some places provide particular inspiration, and Lassen is one of them for me.

  2. I would love to do that hike! I was at Lassen last week but we had the kids with us so alas, hopefully another time. Your chipmunk is a golden mangled ground squirrel – chipmunks have stripes on their faces. Fun fact I learned a few years ago… 🙂

    1. Thanks so much for the correction! I thought it might be a ground squirrel, however because it didn’t have a tail I was thrown. Perhaps it lost its tail to a predator, or maybe they don’t grow a long tail in that environment?

    1. Exactly! The behavior to be drawn to people is learned, not instinctive. We are always so cautious to leave all natural areas crumb clean for this reason. Thanks for visiting, and for your comment! 🙂

    1. How funny! I can’t wait to read/hear (on the podcast) about your Uk adventures. Once I hit the road again next week, I’ll have another marathon to catch up on the rest of your podcasts. Thanks for reading – I’m so glad you enjoyed this post!

  3. Wow, an adventurous hike. Probably a bit beyond what I would be capable of but enjoyed going along vicariously! Your descriptions and pictures are incredible. The views must have been stunning in person. Here in Wisconsin, we have thirteen spotted ground squirrels, they are cute as all get out, but can be quite destructive. Great post!

    1. Thank you so much for your kind words 🙂 I’m so happy that you enjoyed the virtual hike! That I know of, we do not have any ground squirrels native to Tennessee (home state), however the gray squirrels can be super destructive too. And my dog wants to stalk and eat every one of them, haha!
